Abstract

This research were to study 1) Production of mattress from local wisdom in San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province 2)Mattress consumption behavior and 3)Development of mattress from local wisdom in San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province Data were collected, using interview and a questionnaires, from 7 sampled by interview, and 260 sampled by survey. The results of the research are as follows: Local wisdom for products of mattresses in San Pa Tong District Chiang Mai Province found that in the study area of Ban Mae Kung community. Material use woven fabric black and red from local cotton. The mattress is rectangular in shape. The nature of the mattress is 4 pieces connected together, can be folded together, Size about 33 inches in width, about 75 inches in length, about 2 and a half inches thick, filling the mattress stuffed with kapok. The front of the mattress is corrugated. Mattress making process consists of 4 steps, namely 1) Prepare kapok 2) Mattress sewing 3) Mattress stuffing 4) Mattress decorating. In the way of life, the villagers sleep on mattresses with coverings. mattress on mat Lie with head facing east. and use the mattress in traditional ceremonies such as ordination, funerals, etc. Taking care of the mattress by going out in the sun, using a wood to beat the mattress to repel dust. Developing a prototype of mattress products from local wisdom in San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province. has developed 3 prototype mattress products, which are mattress products. that focuses on environmentally friendly products using natural materials Using hand-woven cotton with natural dyes and kapok as a material in production that retains the identity of the local mattress. The results of the evaluation of prototype mattress products by experts are very good.
